Watch Ne-Yo’s ‘Forever Now’ Video
Ne-Yo has dropped the video for his latest single “Forever Now,” from his fifth studio album, R.E.D. But the actor/singer/songwriter has added a theatrical element to the clip and an ending that leaves more questions than answers.
“I keep having the same dream,” his voice rings in the opening scene. “I keep seeing her with somebody else. I know what the dream means: I’m gonna lose her, if not to my career than to another man for not being the man I’m supposed to be.”
Then we see Ne-Yo at a press conference where he is clearly distracted by visions of the women he loves. Throughout the video, Ne-Yo shows off his dance moves and choreography. He spends much of the video in rehearsal or dancing in the rain with backup dancers. He concludes with the press conference that cuts off abruptly.
The song, which is the follow-up to the pop radio friendly “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself),” is also a step into the R&B singer’s pop leanings.
He recently told CBS Local how his new album represents two sides that he hopes to unify with R.E.D.
“This album is literally split down the middle,” he explained. “One half is strictly for my R&B fanbase and the other is the pop fanbase…I pride myself and thank my fans for being open-minded enough to allow me to be the kind of artist who can do a song with Young Jeezy and then turn around and do a song with David Guetta or Calvin Harris. There are not a lot of artists that they give that kind of leeway to, I am one. I appreciate that.”
