I missed THREE of the TEN math problems on this test…
Only ONE in TWENTY parents are able to do math intended for students aged eight to twelve years old!!!
That’s right…only 5%, of the 2,000 volunteers, correctly answered all ten of the problems typically taught to PRE-TEEN kids! (Um, yea, I’d say THAT was an impressive bit of math I did just then, thank you very much!)
Nearly four out of ten — 39% — were unable to answer a simple question about fractions intended for eight-year-old children. Nearly three-quarters — 73% — were dumbfounded by a query for 11 and 12-year-olds.
A poll, given after the quiz, showed that 65% of parents worried…that if they helped with their kid’s math homework…they’d only confuse them. (Well DUH, since they got the answers WRONG, it seems — at least — the parent’s common sense skills are in tact!!!)
My five-year-old already does double digit multiplication and counts by two’s. If I ever, again, have math homework…SHE can help ME!!!
